Hello all, just wondering how your soil testing experiences are going?
I have found some very compacted earth where I have had to use a hoe and pitch fork. I prefer to use a pitch fork with about 10-12 teeth in order to avoid killing worms and other macro organisms. I noticed that when I dug the 30x30x30 with a shovel or even the small garden hand trowel, I still killed some of the very few worms found or that it was very difficult to make the whole with that small tool in compacted soils.
Also noticed that if I left the soil to the side for a minute or two I was able to find more biology than if I kept moving it around all the time.
Any interesting findings for you?
Best regards,
